There is a common misconception that fibreglass ramps are much lighter than aluminium ramps but this is generally not the case, thereâs very little in it really. In situations where both types of ramp are suitable for your situation, then itâs down to personal choice, i.e. which you like the look of most or which suits your budget. Aluminium ramps tend to be available in longer lengths and tend to be a bit more resilient to being âbashed aboutâ but fibreglass ramps tend to be a bit more aesthetically pleasing and are more suitable for customisation.
The main issue when selecting a ramp for loading scooters or wheelchairs into vehicles is the âfolded sizeâ of the ramp because normally you need to transport to ramp in the vehicle to be able to unload the scooter or wheelchair at the other end of the journey. In view of this, the best categories of ramps to look at are the âMulti-foldâ category and the âTwo-piece channel rampsâ because of their compact âfolded sizeâ. The one issue that you need to be aware of when considering a âTwo-piece track rampâ for loading a scooter, is that many scooters have a low ground clearance and the underside of the scooter can catch on the inner guard edge of the channel ramps, so Iâd suggest opting for a âMulti-foldâ ramp in this instance.

We generally find that itâs not necessary. We really only need the height of the obstacle/steps that youâre looking to negotiate and we can then advise you as to what ramp best suits your needs. If itâs a more complex issue, then we can always discuss coming out and doing a site survey to ensure that you get the right ramp. Most of our ramps donât require any installation and are simple to deploy. For more complicated ramping solutions we can come out and install but there is a charge for this service. Please call for more information.
I would always recommend giving us a quick call to see if we can find a suitable product but if there isnât a standard ramp that meets your requirements, then we have a âCustom Ramp Designâ service, where we will work closely with our suppliers/manufacturers to design a bespoke ramp solution.
If you have purchased a standard product from our website and find that you have ordered the wrong ramp then I would firstly suggest that you give us a call and we will see if we can suggest a more appropriate product. If you have decided that you do not want an alternative product and simply want to return it, then under the Distance Selling Act you are entitled to return the product up to 7 days after receipt of you product. You need to be able to demonstrate that you have some form of illness or disability thatâs relevant to the piece of equipment that youâre purchasing. For example, if you had severe arthritis in your hip and were unable to walk, then youâd qualify for VAT Exemption because youâd understandably require a wheelchair and therefore potentially a wheelchair ramp to enable you to move around. All orders with a mainland UK delivery address are shipped free of charge. Please call us on 0800 6121140 for shipping quotes if the delivery address is outside mainland UK.
All of our products have a minimum of 12 months warranty. This excludes any âUsedâ products purchased from our showroom.
We are open from 9am-5pm on Monday to Thursday and are open 9am-3pm on Friday. We are not open at the weekend.
